Horizon Credit Union research has shown that whilst members on the South Coast preferred to do business face-to-face, Illawarra customers were embracing on-line transactions.
The organisation will be represented at the Illawarra Mercury Home Show which opens today, and features on-line information.
Marketing manager Kim Morris said applying for loans of any type on-line was a great benefit to members.
``They can enter their details at any time convenient to them, even the early hours of the morning if they want and know that on the next working day an officer will be in touch to discuss the loan," she said.
``Our website www.horizon.org.au contains current interest rates and a loan calculator so the client can work out the monthly repayment figure on the loan.
``At least it gives an immediate idea of how much it would cost to borrow the amount you need to buy whatever it is you want."
Ms Morris said now was a good time to borrow as loans for all types of things from home loans to personal loans attracted relatively low interest repayments.
Horizon Credit Union, with $120million in assets, now has nine branches between Thirroul and the Bega Valley and a membership of 14,500.
The weekend's home show will also allow for on-the-spot loan applications for those who find something they simply can't live without, whether it's a swimming pool, a new kitchen, the latest in appliances or a bathroom renovation.
